Henry Kilgore began his academic career at the University of California, Berkeley where he enjoyed the rich research environment, conducting work in both physical organic chemistry and immunology. He then moved to the University of Wisconsin, Madison to perform his doctoral work with Ronald T. Raines, ultimately completing his dissertation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the Raines lab. As a postdoctorate, Henry pursued studies into the chemical information present in molecules that guide their selective incorporation into condensate compartments. This led to the discovery of a chemical code that promotes selective protein and incorporation into condensates. This “Condensate distribution code” builds upon earlier models of cellular organization and seeks to deduce how molecules are selectively incorporated into biomolecular condensates.
